New edition, revised and enhanced. The highlights are an unpublished text about automation and crushing installation control and an extra chapter, completely dedicated to fine grinding.

The book now counts with five chapters: one about crushing, its equipments and processes, crushing and undergroung mining, impact crushers, etc. Another approaching screening, its constructive characteristics, types of screen and humidity effects.

Then comes an introductory chapter about grinding, with equipments, wet and dry grinding, ball mills, Bond and Rowland dimensioning models and possibility trapezoid method.

The last two chapters are, respectively, about coal comminution and the extra material about fine grinding and regrinding in mills with rotors agitated load.

About the authors

Arthur Pinto Chaves

Arthur Pinto Chaves is graduated in Metallurgic Engineering, has a Masters in Mineral Technology and a PhD all by Universidade de São Paulo, and a post-doctorate from Southern Illinois University. Teaches in the Department of Mine and Petroleum Engineering in Universidade de São Paulo and has worked since 1990 in the main mining and engineering in Brazil. Has practical experience in the field of Mining Engineering, with emphasis in ore treatment, mineral technology, ore beneficiation and flotation.

Antônio Eduardo Clark Peres

Antônio Eduardo Clark Peres is a metallurgist engineer (Federal University of Minas Gerais, UFMG), Master in Nuclear Sciences and Techniques (Federal University of Minas Gerais, UFMG) and PhD in Mineral Engineering from University of British Columbia (Canada). He was a Full Professor in the Department of Mining Engineering at UFMG (retired) and is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering at the same university since January 1998.
