Rocks: easy handbook of study and classification

Sebastião de Oliveira Menezes

Rocks: easy handbook of study and classification presents a roadmap for the study of rocks, enriched by didactic illustrations, and addresses, in a clear and accessible language, the basic foundations of Petrology, geology branch responsible for the study of origin, occurrence, structure and history of rocks.

Divided into three parts, the handbook explains, in the first part, the main concepts involved in the study of rocks, such as physical properties, main constituent minerals and forms of classification. The second part deals with the formation and characteristics of igneous, sedimentary and metamorphic rocks and the third presents a key to the macroscopic recognition of 85 rocks and some variants, totaling 99 rocks. It includes a series of illustrations to facilitate the understanding of the text and also has an opportune glossary with the main terms related to the area.

Intended for students of Geosciences and interested in learning to identify rocks.
